Asher Allen

Growing up in South Georgia, where the greatest parties are on Saturday, church is on Sunday, and the attendance to both places is of the same crowd, I was brought to a place of frustration and intrigue by this so-called Christian lifestyle.  Once going off to college and experiencing these issues at such an increased portion, I knew that there must be more than just the religious and the immoral lifestyle.  I prized myself on my goodness and performance, always comparing to those around me, creating such a standard that eventually became attainable. Religion was merely about being a well-rounded and better individual in my sight, so I attended church regularly.  However, coming face to face with people whose lifestyle reflected a Jesus that I did not know, caused me to begin questioning what Christianity was really all about.  I saw through their lives that they were different, that God actually worked, that they had a peace and purpose in life, and that they loved genuinely.  Through being exposed to the word of God and hearing the truth that comes from the bible of which I had never heard before, God revealed His holiness to me and my need for a real Savior.

God’s calling of me to the campus began through showing me His desire and strategy behind reaching these college students and presenting them complete.  Going on staff with Campus Outreach presents such a unique opportunity through the intense labor among the lost and alongside those walking in discipleship.  Being a part of the shaping of the next generation of laborers gives me great delight and excitement for the future of the gospel, and the years of development that will occur in the church through the opportunities that Campus Outreach has in training students.
