Emily Perry

I grew up in a Christian home where we went to church most Sundays and were pretty involved in its activities.  As I grew up my life revolved around gaining the respect and approval from others, whether it was my parents, teachers, coaches or friends. When I came off to college at Georgia Southern University I wanted to have the “college experience,” so I got into the party scene and gave my life over to that. That lifestyle consumed the first year and a half of college for me.  In my Sophomore year, I met a girl who was a Christian and one Tuesday she invited me to the Campus Outreach weekly meeting and it was there that I realized that there was something different between the people I met there and myself. Spending time with them, I began to see how they lived their lives and how they loved the Lord. Both of us said that we were Christians, but our lives did not look the same. In April 2006 I gave Christ full control of my life and He became my Lord and Savior.

Since then I have taken opportunities to grow in my faith with things such as discipleship groups, bible studies, Summer Beach Projects, and different conferences. The Lord has led my path in many directions since I have become a Christian and now I feel like the Lord is leading me to go on staff with Campus Outreach. I am excited to pursue this opportunity for many reasons. One of them is because of the impact that this ministry and the men and women laboring with in it has had on my life. It excites me to think that I might be able to have the same impact in someone else’s life because of what Christ has done in mine.
