Jami Smith I grew up in Monticello, Georgia, and attended a small private school where my dad was the headmaster and my mom, a high school math teacher. Both of my parents, and a close friend shared with me about Christ, but I never quite understood what it meant to have a relationship with Him. I thought being a Christian was church attendance, saying a certain prayer and talking to God here and there. I invested all of my time in basketball, grades, boys and popularity. After graduating, I visited Valdosta State University without investigating any other schools and entered into the music program that fall. At this point I was living for music and relationships, but nothing was really giving me purpose in life. I was looking to my boyfriend at the time to do only what God could do, and it wasn’t long before that we broke up. About a week after, I found myself in my dorm room realizing for the first time that there had to be more to life than what I was living for and I began to pray to surrender my life to Christ. That was when my relationship with God began. God brought people from Campus Outreach into my life to help me grow in my relationship with Him. I spent the next four years doing everything that I could to grow spiritually and equip myself to make an impact. God had used many godly women to help me grow, and I wanted to do the same. Since college, God has fulfilled dreams that I didn’t even know that I had. He has taken me to Bangkok, Thailand; Johannesburg, South Africa; Augusta State University and I’m laboring now at Georgia College and State University. He has shown me that He can do great things through a willing heart and I hope to continue to make an impact on college students for as long as God wants.
